Checking for Updates - Zoom

In this guide, you will learn how to:

  • Check if your desktop Zoom application needs to be updated.

  • Install any necessary updates.

Starting November 5th, 2022, Zoom will only support a baseline version of the Zoom Client or newer. The oldest version you can have on your computer or mobile device is 5.8.6.

It is best practice to always ensure your Zoom client is up to date. Please make a habit of checking for updates prior to hosting a Zoom meeting to avoid any issues.

To install the Zoom desktop application, click here.

1

Launch the Zoom program on your computer.

2

If you need to update, it should prompt you from the Zoom dashboard. Click Update and follow the on screen prompts.

3

In the taskbar (bottom right corner of your screen), right click on the Zoom icon. You may have to click on the ^ icon to expand your taskbar.

4

Click Check for Updates.

5

If there are updates that need to be installed, it will walk you through the process. If you are up to date, it will alert you that you are up to date.
