Webex to Zoom Transition - SOM and UNLV Health Impact
UNLV is transitioning from Webex to Zoom as the university’s video conferencing solution in June 2023.
The impact this will have depends on several factors. Review the information below so you are prepared for this change.
School of Medicine
Employees
I already have a Zoom license with my @unlv.edu address |
Your account and the associated cost will be claimed by UNLV. You will receive a request notifying you of this when you log in for the first time after the merge takes place. Download any existing meeting data before accepting the request. |
I have never created a Zoom account with my @unlv.edu email address. |
If you are a UNLV employee with an active Workday account and a UNLV Mail (@unlv.edu) email address, you will be automatically provisioned a Zoom account for that email address and follow the typical account setup process. |
Students
Students will not receive a Zoom license as they are not required to join a meeting. A free Zoom account is also not needed to join a meeting, but can be created with a personal email address.
If you need to host a meeting, use Google Meet.
You can invite anyone to join even if they don’t have a Google Account. Share the link or meeting ID.

The account will be integrated into the UNLV enterprise Zoom account and decommissioned in December 2023. You can continue to host with your Zoom license until December 22, 2023. Download any existing meeting data before accepting the request. |
