Adding PowerPoint and Video to a Course - WebCampus
There are two ways to add PowerPoint presentations and video files to a Canvas course.
Uploading to your Canvas “Files” and later adding them to your course.
This can be efficient if you are uploading files in bulk. For example, uploading all of your files for the course at once.
Uploading a file directly when working on a specific page.
Uploading to Files
1 | In your course, click Files.
2 | Click the Upload button. You will be able to upload one (or multiple) files at once. You are able to organize your course files as desired in this step. For more information, click here.
3 | To insert the file into your course page, place your cursor where you want the file to be placed, then click the Record/Upload Media icon, then choose Course Media (for a video file). For a PowerPoint file, click the Documents icon, then Upload Document.
4 | On the right sidebar, you will be able to navigate your course files and insert them to the page.
5 | Videos will appear in a playable view. |
Uploading Directly to Page
1 | Open the page and click Edit.
2 | Click in the text box where you’d like the file to be placed. Click the Documents icon, then Upload Document (for a PowerPoint file). For a video file, click the Record/Upload Media icon and choose Upload/Record Media. It will prompt you to find the file on your device and upload it directly.
3 | The file will appear in your view as text. It will be the name of the file by default. You can change the display text just as you would if you were adding any text hyperlink.
4 | The students will see the text with a download icon next to it. |
