Google Maps
Google Maps is not accessible with a SOM Google account.
You will see the following error message when attempting to access Google Maps with your UNLV Google account. |
This is because Google Maps is not covered by SOM’s BAA with Google.
In order to process patient data, a company must sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) that lays out the ways the vendor is required to safeguard patient privacy.
The Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV has a BAA with Google, and Google Maps is not HIPAA compliant.
Google Maps is still accessible while using an incognito window in Google Chrome.
Incognito Mode is a way to browse the web privately without Google Chrome caching your activity.
Open an Incognito Window in Google Chrome
There are multiple ways to open an incognito window.
Method 1 |
In Google Chrome, click the three dots in the top-right corner and choose New incognito window.
Method 2 |
Right-click on the Chrome icon in your task bar and choose New Incognito Window.
Method 3 | With Chrome open, use the appropriate keyboard shortcut for your OS. |
|
Any of these three methods will successfully open an Incognito Window. You will be able to access Google Maps while using this view.
