Tagging Users

  • When typing a message in Google Chat, type @ and start typing the person’s name to call them out. As you type, their name will populate in a popup for you to click on. If the person you’re trying to tag is not in the space you are typing in, it will give you a quick option to add them to the space.

  • Tagging a user will send them a notification in Chat.

Threads

Conversation threading can be turned off when creating a new Google Chat space.

1

When you have multiple threads, they appear as separate sections of conversation that anyone in the room can reply to.
