SOM Canvas Structure - WebCampus
The Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV uses WebCampus, powered by Canvas, to facilitate your Undergraduate Medical Education experience. Provided below is an explanation of where to find various resources. Please note that as you progress through your UME experience, your use of Canvas will change.
SOM Master Course
Announcements, events, and discussions that affect all SOM students, regardless of class year.
Department Courses
SOM departments such as Academic Success, Student Financial Services, and Wellness have their own courses within Canvas that serve as the informational resource for their department.
Cohort Courses
Scheduled blocks for where you will be and when (which class you’re in at which time).
Academic Courses
Each course that you are enrolled in through MyUNLV has its own Canvas course. Instructors will post course material, lecture recordings, and other course-related items.
Example: MED 802 - Introduction to Medical Science - Section 1001 will appear in Canvas.
Academic Course Groups
Some courses in Canvas are created in support of other courses, such as Problem-Based Learning.
Example: SOM M1 PBL is the Problem-Based Learning course for all M1’s.
