Viewing an Encrypted Email

To view an encrypted email message from a UNLV user, you will need to create a registered account.

As of November 18, 2021, due to a change to UNLV’s encryption system, all previously registered external users will need to register again.

1

When you receive an encrypted email, you will see a message similar to this image. You can click the link in the body of the message, or click the attachment.

2

If this is your first time accessing an encrypted email from UNLV, or if it is your first time doing so since November 18, 2021, you will need to register.

  • Populate the fields, select your security question and answer, then click Continue.

Password Expiration

External email recipients may have their password expire after a period of time. If your password is about to expire, you will see “Your password will expire in X days” displayed in a secure message.

In the email, click on the Click here to change it link.

If your password expires before you’ve had a chance to reset it, you will be prompted to reset it the next time you read an encrypted message.
