Student iPad Setup - C/o 2022, 2023, & 2024
Step 1: Complete First-time Setup
If you stop/restart the process, the order of the steps may change and may not be exactly reflected in the process below.
1 | Turn on your iPad. | |
2 | You will be prompted to begin the Quick Setup. | |
3 | Select your language. | |
4 | Select your country or region (United States). | |
5 | At the Quick Start page, choose Set Up Manually. | |
6 | Choose a Wi-Fi Network, choose UNLV-WiFi and tap Continue. | |
7 | You will be redirected to the UNLV-Wifi page, choose Connect to eduroam. If the button is not responding skip to #11. | |
8 | At the prompt enter your ACE username and password. If you do not receive a prompt, skip #11. | |
9 | If prompted, Allow to open Settings. | |
10 | At the Wireless Profile prompt, choose Install. | |
11 | Once it complete, choose Done. | |
12 | At Data & Privacy prompt choose Continue. | |
13 | At Remote Management prompt choose Next. | |
14 | At Remote Management login page, enter your ACE username and password. | |
15 | You will be prompted to create a 6 digit passcode. | |
16 | At Terms and Conditions page, choose I Agree. |
Step 2: Configure Wireless
If wireless configuration did not complete during Step 1, follow these instructions.
1 | Launch Wireless icon. | |
2 | At the UNLV-Wifi page, choose Connect to eduroam. | |
3 | If prompted, accept the terms and service by selecting Continue. | |
4 | At the prompt, enter your ACE username and password. | |
5 | Choose Install. | |
6 | Once it complete, choose Done. | |
7 | The iPad will automatically connect to WiFi network eduroam. |
Step 3: Pair your Apple Pencil and connect your keyboard
Attach the Apple Pencil to the magnetic connector on the side of your iPad Pro.

Unlike Bluetooth keyboards, you don't need to pair or turn on your Smart Keyboard.
Connect your Smart Keyboard Folio to your iPad Pro with the Smart Connector. The Smart Connector is on the back of your iPad Pro, and has three small, magnetic contacts.

Step 4: Additional Apple Setup
Sign in/Setup your Apple ID
Your Apple ID is the account that you use to access all Apple services and make all of your devices work together seamlessly.
Start at your Home screen.
Go to Settings.
Tap Sign in to your iPad.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
If you protect your account with two-factor authentication, enter the six-digit verification code and complete sign in.
Sign into iCloud
Start at your Home screen.
Go to Settings.
iCloud > Enter your Apple ID and password.
Setup “Find my iPad”
Start at your Home screen.
Tap Settings > [your name] > iCloud. If you're using iOS 10.2 or earlier, go to Settings > iCloud.
Scroll to the bottom and tap Find My iPhone.
Slide to turn on Find My iPhone and Send Last Location.
