Step 1: Set Up Face ID or Touch ID and create a passcode

Please follow the instructions below to complete the iPad setup.

Turn on iPad

You will need to set up Face ID or Touch ID and create a passcode

Tap Settings

Tap Face ID & Passcode

Tap Turn Passcode On and follow instructions to complete.

Step 2: Configure Wireless

Tap on the Settings icon to configure WiFi

Tap on WiFi and select UNLV-WiFi

You will be redirected to the UNLV-Wifi page, choose Connect to eduroam.

At the prompt enter your ACE username and password and tap join.

If prompted, Allow to open Settings.

Go to General and under Profiles, tap on the eduroam Profile prompt, choose Install.

Once it complete, choose Done.

The iPad will automatically connect to WiFi network eduroam.

Step 3: Pair your Apple Pencil and connect your keyboard

Attach the Apple Pencil to the magnetic connector on the side of your iPad Pro.

  • Unlike Bluetooth keyboards, you don't need to pair or turn on your Smart Keyboard.

  • Connect your Smart Keyboard Folio to your iPad Pro with the Smart Connector. The Smart Connector is on the back of your iPad Pro, and has three small, magnetic contacts.

Step 5: Additional Apple Setup

Sign in/Setup your Apple ID

Your Apple ID is the account that you use to access all Apple services and make all of your devices work together seamlessly.

  1. Start at your Home screen.

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Tap Sign in to your iPad.

  4. Enter your Apple ID and password.

  5. If you protect your account with two-factor authentication, enter the six-digit verification code and complete sign in.

Sign into iCloud

  1. Start at your Home screen.

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. iCloud > Enter your Apple ID and password.

Setup “Find my iPad”

  1. Start at your Home screen.

  2. Tap Settings > [your name] > iCloud. If you're using iOS 10.2 or earlier, go to Settings > iCloud.

  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Find My iPhone.

  4. Slide to turn on Find My iPhone and Send Last Location.
