Tagging Users

  • When typing a message in Google Chat, type @ and start typing the person’s name. As you type, their name will populate in a popup for you to click on. If the person you’re trying to tag is not in the room, it will give you a quick option to add them to the room.

  • Tagging a user will send them a notification in Chat.

Threads

Threads keep conversations organized in Google Chat rooms. You can create a new thread for a new topic of conversation for easy reference.

Click the + New thread button to create a new thread of conversation.

When you have multiple threads, they appear as separate sections of conversation that anyone in the
room can reply to.

While in Google Chat, click the gear icon in the top right
corner, then choose Settings.
