Rooms in Google Chat are for conversations where people can come and go. Rooms are typically used for ongoing chats within groups of people. For example, rooms can be created for entire departments (Surgery) as well as smaller groups (Surgery - Front Desk Staff).

Creating a Room

1. Go to chat.google.com or open the Google Chat desktop app.

2. Click Find people, rooms, and bots on the left sidebar.

3. Click Create Room.

4. Give the room a relevant name and click Create.
NOTE: We recommend using a consistent naming scheme for your rooms.
For example: Surgery - Front Desk, Surgery - Providers, etc.

5. Click Add people & bots to add users to the room.
You can always add or remove users at any time.

6. Type in the email addresses of the people you want to add to the room.

Room Management

To manage your room, open the Google Chat room and click the down arrow to view the management menu. You can change the name of the room, edit the members of the room, manage notifications, or leave the room entirely.
