SOM VPN - Connect/Disconnect
The SOM VPN allows you to connect to the SOM network while you are off-site.
The SOM VPN is used by both School of Medicine and UNLV Health employees.
Use of VPN is only needed when you are off-site & not connected to the SOM/UNLVMed networks.
Attempting to connect to VPN while on-site can cause significant errors and disruptions.
You must install the client before attempting these instructions.
Connecting
Step 1 - Connect to SOM VPN Network
| 1 | From the taskbar, click the AnyConnect Client icon.

| 2 | The AnyConnect client will open. Ensure the server name is showing, vpn.ksom.unlv.edu, and choose Connect. | |
| 3 | When prompted, enter your SOM credentials:

| 4 | Once connected, the AnyConnect icon will show a lock. | |
Step 2 - Connect to the Remote Desktop (if applicable)
This is not necessary if you are using your work-provided laptop.
| 1 | Double-click the Remote Desktop icon created during setup. | |
| 2 | If prompted, enter your SOM username and password. |
Disconnecting
Step 1 - Disconnect from Remote Desktop (if applicable)
This is not necessary if you are using your work-provided laptop.
| 1 | Hover your mouse at the top of the screen on the remote computer and a blue bar will appear. Click the X to disconnect. | |
| 2 | On the remote computer, open the Windows Start Menu. Click on the Profile Picture and choose Sign Out. | |
Step 2 - Disconnect from SOM Network
| 1 | In the taskbar, right-click on the AnyConnect Client icon. | |
| 2 | Choose Disconnect. | |
