Class of 2029 - Orientation

🎓 Welcome to the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine!

The SOM IT department is here to support your success throughout medical school. This page will guide you through essential technology setup steps and key resources.

What You Need to Do First

✅ Set up your ACE ID and Rebelmail account

✅ Log in to MyUNLV and WebCampus

✅ Set your SOM password (we’ll help you with this at orientation)

✅ Connect your devices to BYOD Wi-Fi (we’ll help you with this one too)

🧑‍💻 Your Accounts at a Glance

ACE ID
Used for UNLV login and single sign-on

Rebelmail
Your official student Gmail address, tied to your ACE ID

SOM Account
Gives access to SOM computers* and BYOD Wi-Fi

*Note: SOM accounts are not used in the SOM Library on the 3rd floor. Use your ACE ID to log into these computers.

WebCampus
Access course content, announcements, and submit assignments

MedHub
Used for evaluations and clerkship schedules

🌐 Connect Your Devices to Wi-Fi

  1. Open Wi-Fi settings

  2. Select KSOM BYOD network

  3. Enter your SOM username and password

Note: If you change your SOM password, rejoin the network on each device immediately to avoid being locked out.

📱 Using Your iPad Air

  • Do not use Rebelmail as your Apple ID

    • You will eventually lose access to this email - save yourself the headache from day one

    • Use your personal Apple ID if you have one, or create one with your personal email

  • The iPad belongs to you.

  • SOM does not replace lost or stolen devices

  • SOM IT does not provide advanced iPad support or repair

  • Contact Apple directly (AppleCare+) for hardware issues

    • You have three years of AppleCare+ included

What to do now

  • Set SOM password at orientation

  • Connect to BYOD Wi-Fi

  • Learn how to print on campus and add money to your RebelPrint account

  • Update your emergency contact info in MyUNLV and make sure you’re receiving emergency notifications.
