Computer Deployment & Purchase Information

Computer Deployment Standards

  • Each employee is provided one computer and one on-site office setup.

  • Equipment is deployed to a department location, not directly to individuals.

  • Supervisors are responsible for keeping track of department equipment.

  • SOM IT does not track items by employee – just by where the items were delivered.

  • Employees are fully responsible for any equipment that is taken off-site.

  • SOM IT will not replace equipment that is lost or damaged off-site.

  • To request extra equipment, use the RTI store (see “Computer Purchasing” below)

SOM IT does not provide support for employees' home equipment.


Computer Purchasing

Submit your purchases requests using our Shared Services Business Operations portal. For more information, please review our purchasing process.

  • Our RTI Store is available to build your order

  • School of Medicine and UNLV Health are limited to HP devices

  • Apple devices have very limited support

  • Having similar devices ensures that all equipment is compatible

Build your order in our RTI store.

SOM IT will gladly assist with facilitating your computer orders.

To get this assistance, please submit your orders through our Shared Services Business Operations form.

The SOM IT Department will

  1. Review all submitted orders

    1. We will supply from our inventory (if the requested items are available), and ensure that warranties and other requirements are accounted for.

  2. Coordinate receiving and tagging of the assets

    1. Installation of software and configuration of device(s).

  3. Deliver and install the computer in the appropriate location
