A limited number of Yubikeys are available for employees who do not have a cell phone capable of supporting app-based multi-factor authentication.
The use of a YubiKey is not recommended unless it is absolutely necessary for the individual.
YubiKeys are small and easy to lose.
YubiKey Assignment
YubiKeys are only assigned if the employee does not have a cell phone capable of supporting Okta Verify or Google Authenticator applications
Employees seeking a YubiKey are required to make an appointment with the SOM Help Desk.
What do I do if I lose my YubiKey?
You will lose all access to your ACE ID, including UNLVMail, all Google Services, Workvivo, WebCampus, Zoom if you lose your YubiKey.
If your YubiKey is lost, stolen, or broken, you are required to make an appointment with the SOM Help Desk.
Due to the sensitive nature of the device, a YubiKey cannot be given to another employee to pass on to you.
You will be required to come to the SOM Help Desk office to obtain a new YubiKey.
Daily Use
1 | Insert the Yubikey into the appropriate USB port. Make sure the gold circle is facing up. | |
2 | Log into your ACE account at ace.unlv.edu or by logging into any service linked to ACE, such as UNLVMail, Workvivo, WebCampus, etc. | |
3 | You will see a pop up. Choose the Windows Hello or external security key option | |
4 | You will then be prompted to touch the security key sensor (gold circle with flashing Y) | |
5 | Continue to your ACE account. |
