Google Chat correspondence is the property of UNLV/UNLV Health and can be subpoenaed during litigation.

Google Chat is a powerful way to communicate with people in your organization. Start a message with one or more coworkers, create spaces for ongoing conversations with groups of people, and easily integrate other Google Workspace applications into your Chat experience.

Chat works in your computer browser (at chat.google.com) and can also be installed as a standalone desktop client. Mobile apps for Android and iOS are also available

Chat keeps all your messages in sync no matter which devices you use, even if you switch between them.

Install the Google Chat standalone app on your computer.

UNLV Health Standards for Use

  • Google Chat is encrypted, however, it should not be utilized to make disparaging or unprofessional comments about patients or colleagues.

  • Google Chat is not to be utilized for purposes that do not involve business. 

  • Memes and pictures should not be utilized within the Google Chat environment.

  • All language utilized in Google Chat should be sent using professional language and should not contain profanity.

  • No message should be sent through the Chat environment that would violate the Standards of Conduct Policy.
