In this guide, you will learn how to:

  • Record a Google Meet session.

  • Share the recording with others.

Google Meet recordings can only be done on the computer version of Meet. Recordings cannot currently be initiated on any version of the mobile app. Mobile app users will be notified when recordings start or stop, but cannot control any recordings from the mobile app.

Start and Stop a Recording

  1. In the meeting, click the More icon (the three dots) and then click Record meeting.

  2. Wait for the recording to start. Other participants are notified when the recording starts or stops.

  3. Click More and then click Stop recording when you are finished. The recording will also automatically stop when everyone leaves the meeting.

4. Click Stop recording to verify.

5. The recording file will be generated and saved to the meeting organizer’s My Drive > Meet Recordings folder. An email with the
recording link is also sent to the meeting organizer and the person who started the recording.

Sharing a Recording

In Google Drive

  1. Recordings are automatically saved to the meeting organizer’s My Drive > Meet Recordings folder.

  2. To share a recording, select the video file and click Share. You can also copy/paste the link into an email.

  3. In Google Drive, double-click the recording to play it. “Still Processing” appears until the file is ready for viewing.

From an Email Link
An email with the recording link is sent to the meeting organizer and the person who started the recording.

  1. In the email, click the link and wait for the recording to open.

  2. To share the recording, click More and then Share. Enter the email addresses and click Done. (You can also copy and share the link.)
