Gmail Shortcuts

There are numerous shortcuts that can make your Google Mail experience more smooth. We’ve compiled a list of some that will be the most useful for your use.

You will need to enable keyboard shortcuts within your Google Mail settings before using shortcuts.

To enable keyboard shortcuts in Gmail:

Open your Gmail inbox.
Click Settings > See all Settings.
Scroll to the Keyboard shortcuts section and select Keyboard shortcuts on.
At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.

Write an Email

Key Combination	What it Does	Explanation
c	Compose a new email
Ctrl + Shift + c	Add Cc recipients
Ctrl + k	Insert a link
d	Compose a new email in a new tab
Ctrl + Shift + b	Add Bcc recipients
Ctrl + Enter	Send	Sends your email.

Read an Email

Key Combination	What it Does	Explanation
p	Previous message in an open conversation **
Shift + i	Mark as read
;	Expand entire conversation **
n	Next message in an open conversation **
Shift + u	Mark as unread
:	Collapse entire conversation **

** These shortcuts will only work if you have conversation mode enabled.

Format Text

Ctrl + b	Bold	Makes your text bold.

Ctrl + \	Remove formatting	Removes any of the above formatting.
