If you send the same formatted emails on a regular basis, you may want to have email templates to easily choose from within Gmail.

Enable Templates

Create a New Template
1 | In your Gmail inbox, click + Compose. | |
2 | Type and format your template text in the new message field. | |

4 | Hover over Templates. | |
5 | Hover over Save draft as template. | |
6 | Select Save as new template. | |
7 | Give the template a name. We recommend using a consistent and clear naming scheme for templates that all delegated users can understand and follow. Click Save. |
Edit an Existing Template
1 | In your Gmail inbox, click + Compose. | |
2 | Type and format your template text in the new message field. | |
3 | Click the three dots. | |
4 | Hover over Templates. | |
5 | Hover over Save draft as template. | |
6 | Select the previous template that you want to overwrite. | |
7 | It will ask you to confirm the overwrite. Click Save. |
Using Templates in Gmail
1 | When composing a new email (a new thread or a reply), click the three dots. |
2 | Hover over Templates. |
3 | Select the template that you want to use. |
4 | The template will populate the text field of the email. You can make adjustments as needed in the body of the email and it will not impact the saved template. |
