If you send the same formatted emails on a regular basis, you may want to have email templates to easily choose from within Gmail.

Note

You must manually enable templates in your Gmail settings in order to use this feature.

Enable Templates

While in your

inbox, click the gear icon in the top right corner and then choose Settings.

In the Templates section, click the Enable bubble.

Create a New Template

In your Gmail inbox, click + Compose.

Type and format your template text in the new message field.

Hover over Save draft as template.

Select Save as new template.

Give the template a name. We recommend using a consistent and clear naming scheme for templates that all delegated users can understand and follow. Click Save.

Edit an Existing Template

In your Gmail inbox, click + Compose.

Type and format your template text in the new message field.

Click the three dots.

Hover over Templates.

Hover over Save draft as template.

Select the previous template that you want to overwrite.

It will ask you to confirm the overwrite. Click Save.

Using Templates in Gmail

When composing a new email (a new thread or a reply), click the three dots.

Hover over Templates.

Select the template that you want to use.

The template will populate the text field of the email. You can make adjustments as needed in the body of the email and it will not impact the saved template.
