Clinically Speaking is used by UNLV Health.

To purchase Clinically Speaking, please follow the steps outlined below.

To use voice recognition within Epic, departments must purchase Clinically Speaking and an approved microphone.

Purchase Process

  1. Clinic administrator contacts must contact Christie Putman (christie.putman@unlv.edu) with the following information:

    1. Name of department

    2. Name of doctor who wishes to utilize the program

  2. Clinic administrator will need must to agree to pay for Clinically Speaking ($100 monthly fee) and

  3. Clinic administrator must purchase a dictation microphone , - Nuance Dictaphone PowerMic II

  4. Christie will manage the purchase of the Clinically Speaking software and provide the account information to the clinic administrator/doctor.

  5. Clinic administrator will must submit a ticket to the SOM Help Desk to have the application installed on the specified computer.

M-Modal Fluency Direct

M-Modal Fluency Direct is UMC’s dictation software.

M-Modal Fluency Direct is not reliable in UNLV Health clinic locations (or outside of UMC in general).

M-Modal Fluency Direct is not supported by SOM IT or UNLV Health EHR.
