Clinically Speaking

Clinically Speaking is used by UNLV Health.

To purchase Clinically Speaking, please follow the steps outlined below.

Note

To use voice recognition within Epic, departments must purchase Clinically Speaking and an approved microphone.

Purchase Process

  1. Clinic administrator must contact Christie Putman (christie.putman@unlv.edu) to notify her of the with the following information:

    1. Name of department

    2. Name of doctor who wishes to utilize the program

  2. After it is agreed upon that they will pay the $100 monthly fee, Christie will send them the Amazon link to the dictation microphone.

  3. Christie submits the request to have the doctor added to our account.

  4. Once she receives notice that the account is active, she will provide the administrator with the account information and tell them to create a help request to get the application downloaded on the doctor’s computer
  5. Clinic administrator must to agree to pay for Clinically Speaking ($100 monthly fee)

  6. Clinic administrator must purchase a dictation microphone - Nuance Dictaphone PowerMic II

  7. Christie will manage the purchase of the Clinically Speaking software and provide the account information to the clinic administrator/doctor.

  8. Clinic administrator must submit a ticket to the SOM Help Desk to have the application installed on the specified computer.

M-Modal Fluency Direct

M-Modal Fluency Direct is UMC’s dictation software.

M-Modal Fluency Direct is not reliable in UNLV Health clinic locations (or outside of UMC in general).

M-Modal Fluency Direct is not supported by SOM IT or UNLV Health EHR.
