Recording to your Computer

Due to storage capacity limitations, all Zoom meetings that are recorded to the cloud will be deleted after two days. This means that you have two days after your meeting occurs to download the recording before it is automatically deleted.

You can bypass these limitations by recording directly to your computer rather than the cloud when given the option during your meeting. This two day restriction will only affect meetings that are recorded to the cloud.

...

  1. Cloud recordings will be stored for 180 days before being permanently deleted.

  2. You are encouraged to download important meeting recordings and store them elsewhere, like Google Drive or Panopto.

Who can record a Zoom meeting?

Only the Host or Co-Host of a Zoom meeting can initiate a recording.

The meeting host will need to give you co-host privileges to initiate the recording.

Once you have joined the meeting, the host can hover over your name in the participants list, click the three dots for more options, and choose Make Co-host.
