The Wi-Fi BYOD (bring your own device) wireless networks are provided for employees and students to connect their personal devices. These networks are offered at all School of Medicine and UNLV Health locations and provide you with internet access only.

NOTE: Anytime your SOM password is changed, whether you change it on your own or have it reset by the SOM Help Desk, you must update the credentials on any devices previously connected to the BYOD Wi-Fi.

Failing to do so will result in your account being locked due to the device providing a now incorrect password.

On your device, forget the network completely, then reconnect with your username and new password.

iOS (Apple iPhone/iPad)

  1. From the home screen, select Settings.

  2. Select Wi-Fi.

  3. From the network list, select UNLVMED BYOD or KSOM BYOD.

  4. At the prompt, enter your SOM username and password. Tap Join.

  5. At the certificate prompt, choose Trust.

From the home screen, select Settings.

Tap Network & Internet, then Wi-Fi.

From the network list, select UNLVMED BYOD or KSOM BYOD.

Tap Connect to network.

Update prompted fields and tap Connect.

  1. EAP method: PEAP

  2. CA certificate: Don’t validate

  3. Identity: SOM Username

  4. Password: SOM Password

  5. If prompted, skip field “Anonymous Identity.”

Users with recently updated or new Android devices may receive different prompts.

Windows 10

  1. In the lower-right corner of your screen, click the Wi-Fi icon.

  2. From the networks list, click UNLVMED BYOD or KSOM BYOD.

  3. Select Connect automatically.

  4. Click Connect.

  5. At the prompt, enter your SOM username and password. Choose Connect.

Mac OS

  1. Click the Wi-Fi symbol at the top of your screen.

  2. Choose UNLVMED BYOD or KSOM BYOD.

  3. At the prompt, enter your SOM username and password. Choose Join.

Windows 7

  1. Open Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center

  2. In the task list (left side), choose Manage Wireless Networks.

  3. Choose Change Adapter Settings.

  4. Right-click on Wireless Network Connection. Choose Connect/Disconnect.

  5. Double-click on UNLVMED BYOD or KSOM BYOD.

  6. At the prompt, enter your SOM username and password. Choose Connect.
